sushi taro

when i haven't eaten sushi for a while, i feel sad.

tonight i went to SUSHI TARO for dinner and i'm feeling pretty good. soft shells are in season! it's not the best sushi i've ever had but it's definitely above average, i think it's fair to call that place really good and, best of all, it's reasonably priced. food that is both really good and reasonably priced is pretty hard to find in d.c., so the fact that i found sushi that falls into both categories is such a score.

my grandpa was a sushi chef (actually, more of a sushi nazi). he was pretty unforgiving about fish that wasn't fresh or cut right. he was also fanatical about sushi rice and tamago. that man, may he rest in peace, tried so hard to teach me some skills. too bad i was in elementary school when he tried.
